A new generation of suburban office. (Also a roundabout!)

One of the most significant office developments in New Jersey in decades, M Station will bring roughly 380,000 SF of office and 30,000 SF of retail to the corner of Morris and Spring Street in Morristown. The project will also create new public spaces and result in the installation of a multi-lane roundabout. Critical in the planning process was a conscientious effort to connect the project to the surrounding environment.

As Town Planners for Morristown, Topology oversaw all planning aspects of the project, including drafting the Redevelopment Plan, providing representation to the Planning Board, and making numerous presentations to the Town Council and public. Topology provided advisory support in public space design, building architecture, roundabout design, and other subjects in an effort to ensure that this significant project was developed in a manner consistent with the vision set forth in the Town’s Master Plan: to make Morristown the most welcoming, beautiful, healthy, resilient, and sustainable place to live, work, and play in New Jersey.

A long-stalled redevelopment area, prior to amendment this Redevelopment Plan had been in place since 2008. It’s possible that this downtown suburban office space, an emerging but relatively new phenomenon, was spurred by Topology’s efforts to introduce more residential development in downtown Morristown. Additionally, it was crucial for this project not to repeat the mistakes of HQ Plaza, so Topology made sure it was fully integrated it into the community.
