Un-pave paradise and put up the community’s vision!
Broad Street is a major corridor running parallel and just south of the City of Summit’s NJ Transit rail line and to the west of the bucolic Village Green. Currently, Broad Street runs through several blocks composed mostly of city-owned buildings and parking lots. Given the fact that Summit is a regional transit hub with an active downtown, these underutilized properties were no longer meeting the needs or standards of a modern-day New Jersey hub. Together with City officials and incredible public involvement, Topology created a redevelopment plan that thoughtfully incorporated civic engagement, sustainability, quality architectural standards, and contemporary uses that will support economic resilience and improved quality of life. This plan provides the transparency in the process Summit requires to empower its leaders and residents to negotiate with future private entities. Negotiations are underway for the first phase of redevelopment that will hopefully take place in early 2022.
