Principal


Graham Petto is a Principal at Topology who brings his experience as an urban planning professional and a unique blend of policy analysis and GIS technical expertise to his work. As a professional with broad experience across state and municipal government sectors, as well as academia and non-profit, Graham is passionate about expanding the role and use of data analysis and tools to better government communication, policy development/analysis, and strategic implementation. 

Graham provides professional planning services to several municipal clients; guiding development, land use regulations and supporting land use boards.  He also provides key technical expertise as the lead GIS professional with Topology. Aside from being a New Jersey Professional Planner, Graham also has his AICP certification. In addition to his GIS skills, Graham’s skill set includes other software such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office.

Before joining Topology, Graham spent several years serving as Assistant Township Planner, at the Township of Montclair’s Department of Planning & Community Development. Prior, he worked as Research Project Coordinator for the Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University. In addition to his expertise as an urban planning professional in New Jersey, Graham has spent much of his career out of state, working as a Research Assistant and a Planner in Maryland, providing him with a nuanced understanding of the planning profession within New Jersey and beyond.

Notable Project Highlights:

1.     Open Space and Recreation Plan, Township of Millburn: Facilitating one of the largest public outreach campaigns to solicit extensive input.  Graham has provided detailed and thorough guidance to the Township of Millburn, navigating implementation of affordable housing compliance and effectuating an open and transparent process. 

2.     Grant Application Efforts, Cranford and South Orange: Graham has supported various grant application efforts in Cranford and South Orange, working with the Topology team to obtain funding for home elevations and pedestrian safety improvements.  Graham has facilitated development of interactive mapping applications to enhance delivery of planning and zoning information to client municipalities.
